Thursday Beavers are one of two Beaver colonies who meet at the Bethesda Church Hall.
Thursday Beavers is currently run by Raven, Nightingale and Tim. We are also lucky enough to have support from young leaders Alice, Johannah and Elliot. We also rely on a parent rota to support our activities, especially when we go on outdoor adventures.
In the summer, weather permitting, we try to meet more often outside, in places like Montpellier Gardens, and Naunton Park. Whether working for specific badges or playing favorite games the beavers love being outside! We also try to have special trips away to local outdoor spaces like Pilley Bridge, Crickley Hill and Robinswood Hill in Gloucester.
Sleepovers are an important part of Beaver Scouts, and we try to offer at least one opportunity a year either indoors or outside under canvas.
We have divided our Beaver colony into three lodges – Eagle Owls, Pheasants and Robins. Each lodge comprises a lodge leader (who tends to be the eldest in the lodge) and approximately 5 other Beavers.
Beavers are awarded ‘pasta points’ for showing initiative, commitment and care for others, each lodge competes for the most pasta points at the end of the term.
Will ‘Raven’ – Will started helping Thursday Beavers since March 2015, and now leads the colony. Will enjoys creating a varied and challenging programme for the Beavers, seeing them rise to the challenge, complete their badges, make new friends, and build skills for life.
Tam ‘Nightingale’ – Tam is an assistant beaver scout leader. Tam has lots of experience from her time in Brownies, Red Cross, and is a qualified Early Years teacher.
